Lee Plug® Expansion Plugs

Lee Plug® Expansion Plugs

The founding, flagship product from The Lee Company. It works like this: the cylindrical plug body contains a tapered hole partway through. The body is inserted into a properly reamed hole. A tapered pin is then inserted into the plug itself. This causes the plug to expand in a controlled manner. Lands and grooves on the side of the plug then bite into the sides of the hole, creating multiple metal-to-metal seals. See Installation Process Specification 203 (which applies to all Lee expansion plugs) for more information.

Lee Plugs are manufactured to exacting tolerances. Every process is precisely controlled. Each lot of pins and plugs undergoes a rigorous inspection and acceptance testing. This ensures performance when any failure could be catastrophic.

Standard Lee Plugs are available in multiple grades of aluminum, stainless steel, and Monel, plus titanium and MP35N. They can be purchased in diameters from 0.093 to 0.656 of an inch or metric sizes from 2.5 to 8.0 mm.
Lee A.F.O.® (Axial Force Only) Plugs

Lee A.F.O.® (Axial Force Only) Plugs

Unlike other plugs in our product family, A.F.O. Plugs are both removable and reusable due to their threaded design, which allows technicians easy access to sealed passageways. In spite of this, the A.F.O. Plug still seals up to 56,000 psi. Each plug features a floating seal that self-aligns, allowing for threaded holes that aren’t concentric with the through-hole. Lastly, the A.F.O. designation means that no radial force is applied during installation, making this component suitable for thinner-walled housings. See Installation Process Specification P1013 (which applies to all A.F.O. Plugs) for more information.

A.F.O. Plugs are made from stainless steel and are available in standard diameters from 0.190 to 0.625 of an inch.
High Flow Check Valves

High Flow Check Valves

Our line-up of poppet-style check valves offers extremely high flow capacity for their size in comparison to ball-style valves and includes our Lo-Lohm Cheks, Hi-Q Cheks, and High Pressure Cheks. The High Pressure Chek starts at a micro-miniature 0.125-inch diameter, yet still withstands up to 8000 psi. Meanwhile, the Hi-Q Chek offers the greatest feasible flow capacity for valves of this size. Available in sizes up to 1 inch in diameter in a cartridge configuration, the Hi-Q Chek valve can flow over 57 GPM with only a 100 psid pressure drop. Finally, the 0.250-inch Lo-Lohm Chek offers 3.5 times more flow than an axial flow ball-style check valve of the same diameter.
Extreme Environment Check Valves

Extreme Environment Check Valves

If you need a check valve that can withstand working pressures up to 15,000 psi and operating temperatures of up to 400°F, The Lee Company offers a solution to fit your needs. These valves are constructed of corrosion-resistant stainless steel and are available with multiple polymeric valve seat material options to achieve zero leakage in the checked direction under extreme hot or cold temperatures.
Safety Relief Valves

Safety Relief Valves

Safety relief valves are designed to be fast-acting components that protect systems with the potential for sudden pressure spikes. These valves may sit dormant for indeterminate amounts of time before needing to be used, so it’s crucial that they always work as intended. Our safety relief valves are available in low-leak and tight hysteresis configurations. To ensure reliable operation, we 100% test each component for crack, flow point and reseat pressure.

Our safety relief valves are available in 0.187, 0.250, 0.281 and 0.375 inch insert diameters and 0.687 inch threaded configurations. They are constructed entirely of stainless steel and are available screened and unscreened. Built-in damping ensures quiet operation. Cracking pressures ranging from 20 to 5900 psid.
High Flow Pressure Relief Valve

High Flow Pressure Relief Valve

The Hi-Q PRV is designed for applications that require both a high relief pressure and a high flow rate in a line removable unit (LRU). The valve is offered with minimum cracking pressures from 1000 to 5400 psid and flow rates over 19 GPM, and uses a side inlet flow path to minimize the installation boss size and weight.
Spring-Biased Shuttle Valves

Spring-Biased Shuttle Valves

This valve configuration is typically used to select between the main hydraulic system and the emergency backup that’s biased in the normally closed port. Its non-interflow design means that its three ports are never open simultaneously. These valves can also be used to extend a large unequal area actuator, where reduced actuation force may be permissible in one direction. Lee spring-biased shuttle valves are available in sizes from 0.187 to 0.500 of an inch.
Selective Shuttle Valves

Selective Shuttle Valves

This is our standard non-biased loose-ball design. Available in 0.187, 0.281, 0.375, and 0.500 inch diameters, these are the most economical configuration. The maximum shuttling pressure is just 1 psid. The valves are rated for leakage of fewer than 1 mL per minute.
Lee Bender Jet Multi-Orifice Restrictors

Lee Bender Jet Multi-Orifice Restrictors

As the name suggests, Lee Bender Jets use multiple offset orifices in series. Each additional restriction causes an increased reduction in flow. This produces an effect that results in an increased minimum passage size for a given Lohm rate. The valve’s components are protected with two integral safety screens for bi-directional flow and are available calibrated to a ±5% tolerance in the range of 125 to 9500 Lohms.
Lee Visco Jet® Multi-Orifice Restrictors

Lee Visco Jet® Multi-Orifice Restrictors

The Lee Visco Jet® is one of our most unique innovations. It creates a highly complex fluid passage with a series of individual spin chambers and orifices. This provides an increase in flow passage as great as 25 times that of a corresponding (same Lohm rate) single-stage restrictor, with a corresponding reduction in velocity.

Visco technology offers multiple benefits, including increased resistance to contamination and reduced erosion. Its design prevents cavitation and creates a degree of viscosity compensation. To learn more about how Lee Visco Jet technology works, watch this short video.

Visco Jets are available in flow rates up to 313,000 Lohms in a 0.187 inch diameter cartridge and up to 2.2 million Lohms in a 0.43-inch diameter cartridge. There is no other product available that can provide this level of restriction with such a large minimum passage in such a tiny package.
Dual Metering Flow Control Valves

Dual Metering Flow Control Valves

The Lee Company’s dual metering flow control valves are two-way restrictors that allow a designer to specify a different metered flow rate in each direction. These valves are ideal for high-pressure hydraulic applications with system pressures up to 5000 psi. They feature all stainless steel construction for durability and long life and are available in 0.187 and 0.281 inch diameter models. Each Lee Dual Metering Flow Control is 100% tested in both flow directions to ensure reliable, consistent performance.

Because each direction can be specified differently, our dual metering flow controls can achieve a nearly infinite combination of metered flow rates. As such, all of these components are supplied as custom items to meet the specific needs of an application.
Flosert Flow Regulators

Flosert Flow Regulators

For advanced applications, aircraft and defense manufacturers may wish to consider Lee Floserts. This is a pressure compensated flow control − in other words, the flow will remain constant across a wide range of differential pressures. A variable metering orifice automatically adjusts by sensing the flow rate in terms of differential pressure across a fixed orifice. Floserts are available with the Lee locking end for installation in diameters from 0.250 to 0.500 of an inch as well as a 0.687 inch threaded configuration. Also available are metered flow rates from 0.01 GPM up to 5 GPM, as well as high-pressure versions for operating pressures up to 5000 psi.
Bypass Valves

Bypass Valves

Known for their durability, longevity, and small size, Lee bypass valves are designed to shunt flow across an actuator piston when the system pressure is either shut off or lost. They are normally open, with a hydraulically actuated pilot-to-close feature. These stainless steel valves are available in a 0.375 inch diameter insert for system pressures up to 4000 psi, have a maximum restriction of 70 Lohms when fully open, and weigh only 16 grams each. Similar to Lee shuttle valves, Lee bypass valves include a polyimide compression seal to ensure there is no external leakage across the three-port design when properly installed.
Flow Fuses

Flow Fuses

Lee flow fuses are individually designed to meet custom requirements. The valve design functions as a normally open check valve. As the flow rate increases beyond a specified value across the valve, a poppet shuts against the valve seat and stops the flow. Valve materials are typically stainless steel but can be tailored to specific requirements. Lastly, our flow fuses are suitable for system pressures up to 15,000 psi.

Insert-style flow fuses are available in 0.187, 0.281, and 0.375 inch diameters with the fused flow direction available in forward and reverse. Cartridge-style flow fuses are available in 0.295, 0.483, 0.798, and 0.989 inch diameters. A zero leak version using an elastomeric seal is also available.
Lee Miniature Piloting Solenoid Valves

Lee Miniature Piloting Solenoid Valves

Lee miniature piloting solenoid valves are the most compact powered components we offer, available in a configuration just 0.875 of an inch in diameter and weighing less than 0.14 lbs. Their threaded bodies are easy to install and maintain and are available for system pressures up to 5000 psi. Meanwhile, the efficient coil design requires power levels as low as 7.8 Watts at 28 Vdc. Many options are available, including a single or dual coil configuration, 2-way or 3-way porting, a normally open or normally closed position, and a customizable electrical interface.
High Flow Solenoid Valves

High Flow Solenoid Valves

For more demanding applications, our high flow solenoid valves are available in 2-way, 200 Lohms, and 3-way, 300 Lohms configurations. Both are two-stage poppet designs in a miniature package. These valves are available in normally open and normally closed and single or dual coil configurations for 3000 psi system pressures.
Spray Nozzles

Spray Nozzles

Lee Spin Jet® spray nozzles utilize unique vortices and flow passages to provide a finely atomized 70° hollow cone spray pattern. The Lee Company has state-of-the-art equipment to analyze spray patterns and droplet size to determine performance across different fluids, pressures, and temperatures. Standard options are available from 6000 to 18,000 Lohms, each with a safety screen to protect against rogue particles. The nozzles are rated for operation at service temperatures up to 700°F (371°C) max and for continuous service up to 400°F (204°C) max.
Lee JELA® Lubrication Jets

Lee JELA® Lubrication Jets

Lee JELA® Lubrication Jets generate a straight, well-defined stream of fluid to a predetermined target with differential pressures of 10 to 200 psid. Lee JELA® Lubrication Jets are 100% tested for capture efficiency, guaranteeing that over 90% of flow will hit a predetermined target 2 inches away. These units are ideal for directing streams of lubricating oil at critical bearings or cooling oil at meshing gears, or fuel at the inside of vaporizing tubes in aircraft combustion chambers. Lubrication jets are available in four sizes from 0.125 to 0.343 of an inch with Lohm rates ranging from 200 to 7500 with a +/-15% tolerance. The 0.187 inch size is available with an integral safety screen and Lohm rate tolerance of +/-10%.
170 Spring Retained Etched Safety Screen

170 Spring Retained Etched Safety Screen

Lee Etched Safety Screens feature a seamless, one-piece, 304L CRES screen element formed with pleats to greatly increase the dirt carrying capacity of the screen. The result is a robust screen design with an optimum amount of protection in a small package. Lee etched safety screens are offered with several standard hole sizes including 75, 100, 150, 200, 250, 380, and 500 microns. Lee Spring Retained Safety Screens include a flange mount etched safety screen and a retention spring. This combination allows for an inexpensive mounting technique suitable for unidirectional flow. The spring O.D. is slightly larger than the I.D. of the mounting hole and a special tool is used to twist the spring into the hole. Once the tool is removed, the spring holds the screen in place.
Drilled Safety Screen, 187 Insert Retained

Drilled Safety Screen, 187 Insert Retained

Lee 187 Insert Retained Drilled Safety Screens combine a Lee locking end with a robust, one-piece screen element. Using the proven Lee Insert Principal (refer to our website, or the Lee Technical Hydraulic Handbook for additional details), these screens allow for a simple installation directly into a fluid passageway. This installation technique locks the screen into the surrounding housing and provides a reliable, leak-proof seal. Capable of handling burst and collapse pressure differentials up to 3000 psi, these screen designs are available in two hole sizes, 380 and 500 micron.
Back Safety Screen Filters Etched Safety Screen, 10 mm Boss Mount, 304L

Back Safety Screen Filters Etched Safety Screen, 10 mm Boss Mount, 304L

Lee Etched Safety Screens feature a seamless, one-piece, 304L CRES screen element formed with pleats to greatly increase the dirt carrying capacity of the screen. The result is a robust screen design with an optimum amount of protection in a small package. Lee etched safety screens are offered with several standard hole sizes including 75, 100, 150, 200, 250, 380, and 500 microns. Lee Boss Mount Etched Safety Screens incorporate a threaded configuration and are available in six sizes ranging from 0.3125″ to 0.7500″ in addition to a metric 10mm thread.
HI-BAR® Inlet Safety Screen, Flareless AS33514E04 to Port AS930-04

HI-BAR® Inlet Safety Screen, Flareless AS33514E04 to Port AS930-04

Lee HI-BAR Inlet Safety Screens save space and weight by incorporating the inlet screen directly into the boss fitting end rather than the more traditional approach of having the inlet screen installed in the manifold directly below the fitting. This unique design also offers greater flow and dirt holding capacity than a design that completely encapsulates the screen in the fitting. Lee HI-BAR Inlet Safety Screens are machined entirely from 15-5PH stainless steel and are rugged enough to withstand pressure differentials up to 6000 psi without burst or collapse. Each component is 100% proof pressure tested before shipment to ensure reliable performance. These screens are available in -4, -6, -8, and -10 configurations (AS33514 flareless tube to AS930 port fitting ends), which can be installed into a standard boss per AS33649 or equivalent. Eight standard hole sizes ranging from 50 to 500 micron are available.
PRI/Check Valves

PRI/Check Valves

Lee PRI®/Chek® Valves combine the function of a reverse flow pressure relief valve in parallel with the function of a check valve with free flow in the forward direction into one easily installed insert. The relief valve function features a rugged Tungsten Carbide ball and a 440C seat for durability and long life. The remaining components are constructed entirely of stainless steel. The valves are available in a range of relief flow cracking pressures for system pressures up to 5000 psi.

The 281 PRI/Chek Valves are available with or without integral safety screen filters. The unscreened version has a maximum restriction of 300 Lohms in the free flow direction and is available in nine different standard relief flow cracking pressures up to 3600 psid. The screened version has a maximum restriction of 550 Lohms in the free flow direction and is available in 15 different standard relief flow cracking pressures up to 5900 psid. The 375 PRI/Chek Valve has a maximum restriction of 220 Lohms in the free flow direction and is available in seven different standard relief flow cracking pressures up to 5400 psid.
Lee Components in Unions

Lee Components in Unions

Virtually every 0.187, 0.250, and 0.281 inch diameter Lee insert is offered already installed in appropriately sized flared, flareless, or dynamic beam seal unions. These unions are made of 304 stainless steel (code “J” in military standards) or 6AL-4V Titanium (code “T”). All Lee Unions have a unique hex wrench arrangement to distinguish them from simple unions and permanent external marking to identify the insert.
The configuration of these unions has been carefully chosen to accommodate most of the 0.187, 0.250, and 0.281 inch Lee inserts, and yet maintain both minimum envelope and weight. These units incorporate the high-root radius UNJF threads to minimize stress concentrations with Class 3A tolerances. All fitting-end dimensions are, except for the internal diameters, in general accordance with the appropriate AS4375E4 and E6, AS4395E04 and E06, and AS85720/1-04 and −06 specifications.
Every Lee Union with an insert installed is proof pressure tested; flared and flareless to 6000 psid and dynamic beam seal to 16,000 psid. Maximum working differential pressure is a function of the particular Lee insert specified (refer to the appropriate insert section).
Lee Components in Ring Locked Adapters

Lee Components in Ring Locked Adapters

Virtually all Lee miniature components, including check valves, flow controls, restrictors, and screens, are available already installed or built into Ring Locked Adapters. Design engineers can now take advantage of the unused space in their Ring Locked Adapters to save space and weight in their manifolds.

The Lee Company offers all these products in Ring Locked Adapters with three different tube ends: dynamic beam seal, flareless, and metric dynamic beam seal (8° 30’ lip-seal). Dynamic beam seal and flareless tube versions range in size from −4 to −10 (1/4 to 5/8 inch) and metric lip-seal versions range from 6 to 16 mm nominal tube O.D. Titanium has been selected as the adapter material for the lowest possible weight. All Ring Locked Adapters containing Lee components have blue lock rings to distinguish them from ordinary adapters, and permanent external marking to identify the function of the product inside.
